Love this Idea, however Agents worry about the possibility of injury or peoples clients looking unflattering. But with coaching and very inclusive environment I think it could bring some interest for new fans for sure. Again the visibility of players have been coming up a lot these past months and this may be a great way to raise awareness of players round the league.

Showdown was fantastic. Looked forward to it each Saturday. It would be a lot of fun to see that again with the skill of players these days. (I’m 56)

I loved Showdown. Played it for hours and hours with my friends in the driveway after hockey, pretending we were our idols. Cold, wet tennis balls were awesome weapons, capped off by a tapered knife shaped blade on the hockey stick due to the wear. Deadly combination. Playing goal was the absolute best.

1/10 in the shooting competition. He sucks and his frame is too slight to play against the big boys. Maybe he can go play with all those pansies in the Swedish league.

And I'm ripping on you here strictly because my neighbour went to see it, and 40 or so years later I'm still jealous.

I loved watching the showdown as a kid.

Question: Did they not have another show or was this adjusted in the later years where they added the team breakaway? Two teams of 3 skaters and a goalie would challenge each other. I remember some form of this where they would have 3 players from the same team try and score on goalie from the other team and I think they had other events where the 3 players would shoot from the face off circles and another from directly in front to see which teams could score. Then a mini 3 on 3 tournament? Does that ring a bell with anyone?

At the end of that video didn't they say the next week they were going to do breakaway contests and crown the champ?

55 yrs old. Don’t remember it, but then again....maybe it was because my Dad wasn’t a hockey fan? Was it on in NJ?

McDavid vs MacKinnon would be fun to watch.

I swear Simon Nolet from the Kansas City Scouts won, or came damn close to winning Showdown one year.
